Brewing coffee is an art and a science. Beansmith recommends several different coffee brewing methods found to maximize the extraction of the beneficial flavors of coffee, while minimizing the extraction of bitter coffee compounds and undesirable components. |

Chemex The Chemex coffee maker is one of the purest methods of brewing. It brews coffee using the infusion method, which makes it most similar to drip coffee in terms of body and taste. It’s unbleached filters are a little thicker than those used by auto-drip filters. The result is a slower brew and a richer cup of coffee. Although not as rich as the french press, the Chemex does produce a sediment free cup of coffee that will impress anyone used to auto-drip coffee machines. |

Yama Siphon
The Yama Siphons are classified as vacuum brewers. The brewers, which also take the spelling of "Syphon," originated in Europe in the 1830s and found their way to American soil at the end of the 19th century. The device faded from the American coffee scene in the middle of the 20th century but has made a recent resurgence in large part due to the booming interest and production of vacuum brewers in the Asian market. Vacuum brewers are now slowly making their way in to many new wave coffee shops and cafes, providing an entertaining and tasty alternative to other traditional brewing methods. The Siphon provides an amazing way to extract and feature brilliant high notes that can sometimes be lost in other brewing methods. It communicates the aromatic subtleties of specialty coffee in a light bodied, |

AeroPress The AeroPress design is straightforward. It implements a diversity of different brew methods, utilizing good qualities of each. It is similar to the French Press process which completely submerges the grounds in water but eliminates over-extraction since the water is quickly pressed from the grounds. It is comparable to an espresso method which quickly and uniformly extracts the full flavor from coffee again minimizing the chance for over-extraction. Finally it provides a cleaner extraction via being pressed through a paper filter. |
